Synopsis:
Veterinarian Jan has had enough. The last straw is the death of his father-in-law, who also ran out of strength and patience. His grandmother always decided about his life, old age, and finally about how and where he will be buried. She did not respect any of his wishes and desires, in good faith that she herself always and better than he knows what is good and right for him. And so, unfortunately, she took care of him according to her idea of his happiness. And it is becoming clear to Jan that he is on the same path. His wife Olga is guided by the same theory of a small backyard and a long whip and the belief that she is solely responsible for her husband's happiness. Jan realizes that he can't go on like this anymore, he doesn't want to, he can't. If he does nothing, he will end up as a father-in-law. One day, he thinks of a way to free himself and regain control of his life. But this revolt is very unconventional. Just because his initial inspiration was one of his patients, a parrot with a suspicion of Alzheimer's. Thanks to him, Jan embarks on a journey to fulfill what he thinks are his dreams. And because this journey cannot be easy, it also includes a herd of goats and later cows, a psychiatric institution, rafting and life on a boat. Jan's journey to freedom will also affect the lives of his children and their partners. Daughter Olga took over her mother's method, while daughter-in-law Alena has so far managed to withstand the pressure of the ancestral tradition and chooses her own path, more liberal, modern, more human. The consequences are appropriate for their counterparts in both cases.
